IT’S A DATE: BEACH STYLE
IT’S A DATE: BEACH STYLE
I am
back with another installment of “It’s a Date!” and it’s
not only a the beach style edition, but my birthday celebration, too. Because
my birthday landed on
Father’s Day this year, we spent a special night out late last week to
celebrate. I wanted to head down to the beach to catch sunset and then enjoy a
quite dinner out. Life, as I have mentioned, has been a roller coaster lately
and this was just what we needed.
The thing about heading to the beach in the evening is that first and
foremost, it’s a free date night. You can’t beat that. And many times we take
dinner down to the sand. I pulled the birthday card and requested one of my
favorite restaurants which I will get to later.
Date Night Hot Spot #1: We went to Corona Del Mar
which has always been a really special place for us. This is the beach where my
husband proposed almost 14 years ago now. And it’s also just a great beach
where you can still have a bonfire, roast marshmallows, enjoy the sunset and
just relax.
I found this cover
up online
and it was one that when it arrived I loved it even more. The weight is perfect
and so feminine. And those sleeves!!! So much fun to wear. It comes in black,
too. Also really love the tropical inspired swim top that I pair with white bottoms. Ryan is
a black swimsuit man. Always
has been for the most part but he stepped out of his comfort zone with the
edition of some teal accents. We were cracking up about how every suit he owns
is black. You like what you like, right?! This one is a great
price and style and also comes in blue. And he is partial to the dry fit shirts for working out
and they are great for evening beach adventures.
The water was freezing but you get you
used to it pretty quickly. Not gonna lie. Totally thought he was going to push
me all the way in at one point. Happy to report I still had dry hair for our
dinner out.
This round towel was a gift and we
seriously love it. It’s such a nice weight. Fun idea for a wedding gift if you
have any on the horizon. This bag has been one of my all time favorites. Even
traveled with it to Bora Bora last year. It’s a keeper.
Date Night Hot Spot #2: After the beach we hopped in
the car to quickly change and then headed to Gulfstream right up the street. It’s on
of our favorite spots that I have mentioned before. And they have a darling
outdoor patio that has sand and high top tables with really romantic lighting.
Such a nice spot to grab a cocktail and/or dinner. It was a really special way
to celebrate my birthday.
Date
Night Question: This week’s topic of conversation was all over the map but we
did ask one another what is one thing that has surprised you about marriage. It
was interesting to talk about what our expectations were and what the reality
is. I both agreed that it’s all about being a strong team and appreciating that
someone is always in your corner. There is no better feeling than that. And
isn’t that what we want for our children as we parent, too? For them to know
that we are always in their corner and will see them through the good, the bad
and the everyday adventures.
